1953  Sergei Chepik was born in Kiev, on June 24, the son of the painter Mikhail Chepik and the sculptress Ludmila Sabaneeva
1961-1971 Studied in Kiev at a secondary school specialising in arts.
1971-1973  Studied at the Shevchenko Art Institute in Kiev .
1973  After his father's death, Chepik left forever Kiev and he moved to Leningrad.
1973-1978 Studied under Pr. Andreï Mylnikov at the Repin Art Institute in Leningrad (the former Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg).
1978 - Graduated from the Repin Art Institute and entered the Union of the Young Artists of Leningrad. 
- Exhibition "Young Painters ", Manege, Leningrad.
1978-1981  Carried on his studies in Pr. Mylnikov's studio and worked on his first important works, such as Michelangelo.
1979 National Exhibition of Diploma Works, Manege, Leningrad and Moscow.
1980 Exhibition "Young Painters", House of the Union of Artists, Leningrad.
1981 - Biennale, Praga ; Group Exhibition "Russian Painting" ,Tokyo ; National Exhibition of Young Soviet Painters, Tashkent.
- Chepik became a member of the Union of Artists.
1982 National Exhibition of Young Soviet painters, Academy of Fine arts, Leningrad and Moscow; Group Exhibition "Russian Painting", Osaka and Tokyo; Group Exhibition "Petersburg-Leningrad", Manege, Leningrad.
1983 National Exhibition of Portraits,  House of the Union of Artists, Moscow.
1984 National Exhibition of the Young Soviet Painters, Academy of Fine Arts, Moscow and Leningrad;  Group Exhibition "Soviet Painting Week",Tokyo.
1985 Group Exhibition "Soviet Painting", Köln (Germany); First Personal Exhibition "Russian Landscapes", House of the Union of Artists, Leningrad.
1986 Personal and Retrospective Exhibition " Paintings, Graphics and Ceramics", Youth Palace, Leningrad.
1988 Chepik settles down in Paris with the help of his French friend Marie-Aude Albert. The House of the Dead is awarded a gold medal at the Salon d'Automne in Paris.   Group Exhibition  "Russian Painting",   Roy Miles Gallery, London.
1989 Monte Carlo International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Rocabella, Monaco:The Tree is awarded the Monaco  City Award; Group Exhibition, Salon de l'Ecole Française, Musée du Luxembourg, Paris;  Group Exhibition "Russian Painting", Roy Miles Gallery, London.
1990 Major Personal and Retrospective Exhibition,  Roy Miles Gallery, London,   10th October-  9th November.  Chepik receives public acclaim. Godfrey Barker in the Daily Telegraph writes: "An unknown Russian genius has come to light".  Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher congratulates Chepik at the House of Commons.  
1991 Group Exhibition "Russian Art : 1930-1990",  Roy Miles Gallery, London;  Personal Exhibition of Watercolours "Travels throughout France",  Roy Miles Gallery, London.  Chepik moves to a new studio in Montmartre.
1992 Chepik marries Marie-Aude Albert. He becomes "Sociétaire of the Salon d'Automne".
1993 Major Personal Exhibition, Roy Miles gallery, London, 3th March -4th April ;  Personal Exhibition,  Château de Croissy, Croissy sur Seine,   1st May-  27th June; Retrospective Exhibition,  Prieuré Saint Maurice, Senlis, September ; Salon d'Automne, Grand Palais, Paris; Group exhibition " Christmas Show ", Roy Miles gallery, London;  Presentation to the public of the portrait of  Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
1994 Major Personal Exhibition of New Works,  Roy Miles Gallery. London. Presentation of the first monography on Chepik written by Marie-Aude Albert.
In disagreement with the policies of the Salon d'Automne, Chepik turns back his card of Sociétaire. 
1995 Group Exhibition, Salon de l'Ecole Française, Chapelle Saint-Leonard, Croissy-sur-Seine.
For the first time since he emigrated , Chepik returns to Russia for a two-weeks trip in the summer.

- Retrospective Exhibition, Russian Embassy, Kensington Palace Gardens, London, 7th December - 21 st December, with the masterpiece Russia Crucified.
2000 Personal Exhibition, "Chepik in Venice", The Catto Gallery, Hampstead, London.
2001 Personal Exhibition, "Chepik's Moulin-Rouge", The Catto Gallery, Cork Street, London.
2002 Personal Exhibition "Spectacle et Spectacles", Galerie Popoff, 86 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris.
2003 Personal Exhibition, "New works", The Catto Gallery, Hampstead, London.

Chepik works on the project for St-Paul’s Cathedral. The sketches having been accepted by the Dean and Chapter, Chepik starts the work on 4 large canvases. The Holy Virgin (165 X 240 cm) and Resurrection (165 X 240 cm) are completed by December.
The Apocalypse of St John is exhibited at the Paris Salon d'Automne.
2004

Chepik paints The Public Ministry of Our Lord (430 X 240 cm) and The Passion (430 x 240 cm.).
Group Exhibition “Masques et Miroirs”, Manège, Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
Salon de l’Ecole Française, Eglise de la Madeleine, Paris.
Personal Exhibition “War and Peace”, Espace Pierre Cardin, Paris.

2005 Inauguration on January 24 of four canvases, entitled The Way, The Truth, The Life, by the Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Very Revd Dr John Moses in the presence of Baroness Thatcher.
September : Personal exhibition at the Catto Gallery, Hampstead, London.

2006 Ppersonal exhibition, the Catto Gallery, Hampstead, London.
Chepik produces 40 original drawings fo illustrate Mikhail Bulgakov's famous novel The White Guard.
Publication and presentation in London of a
new monography on Chepik : from Red Square to the Moulin-Rouge (Works 1994-2001).
2007 New cycle of religious paintings.
